2023 is ending well for the super star and with this news it’s making it  even better.

About the Artist:

Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr, was born in Benin on June 14, 2002. Before deciding to pursue a career in music, she started a fashion career at the age of sixteen with Quove Model Management. She began her Instagram account in December 2019 and shared her first original song after covering other songs by well-known musicians. Record executive Don Jazzy noticed her as a result, and he signed her to his label, Mavin Records.

The hit song “Away” from Starr’s eponymous debut extended play hit the mainstream in early 2021. It peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Top Triller Global chart and spent two weeks at number four on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 chart. This set the stage for the release of Starr’s first full-length mixtape, 19 & Dangerous (2021). The mixtape, which was mostly classified as R&B and afropop, was well-received by critics and produced two top forty hits in Nigeria. Being the first solo song by a female singer to reach the top spot, the lead single “Bloody Samaritan” climbed to number one on the Top 50 list. Starr made her debut on the Pandora Predictions chart and was named third on Billboard’s Next Big sound

Later, in 2022, Starr gained widespread popularity across the globe after  her song “Rush” was released. The song appeared on charts in multiple countries, such as Switzerland, Ireland, and the UK, where it reached its highest position at number 24.

Starr made history with the song by becoming the first and youngest African female artist to reach 100 million views on a single YouTube video in less than five months. She also broke a record by being the first female Nigerian musician to have a solo single appear on the UK Singles Chart.
