The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly re-arrested former Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore leader, Bello Bodejo, shortly after he was released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, August 28, 2026.
Bodejo had spent some time in EFCC custody and appeared before the court while working to fulfil the bail conditions imposed on him.
The latest development has raised fresh questions over the reason for his continued detention and the nature of the investigation being conducted by the security agencies.
On June 20, 2026, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted Bodejo bail under stringent conditions. One of the initial conditions required him to provide property documents in Abuja valued at N2bn as part of the requirements for his release.
Following an application by his lawyer, Barrister Muhammad Sharif, the court later reduced the value of the required property from N2bn to N1bn, allowing Bodejo’s legal team to continue efforts to meet the bail conditions.
However, after Bodejo reportedly fulfilled the necessary steps towards meeting the bail requirements, DSS operatives allegedly took him into custody again shortly after the EFCC released him.
As of the time of filing this report, the DSS had not publicly provided details explaining the circumstances surrounding Bodejo’s reported re-arrest.
The development has consequently raised concerns over whether the DSS has commenced a separate investigation or whether there are other allegations against the former Miyetti Allah leader.
Meanwhile, Bodejo’s family has expressed concern over his continued detention, with Hajiya Hauwa Muhammed Bodejo calling on the authorities to publicly disclose the offence he is alleged to have committed.
Speaking while emotional, Hauwa said the family believed Bodejo was innocent and wanted the relevant authorities to clearly explain the allegations against him.
She said the lack of clear information about the reasons for his detention had heightened the family’s anxiety, particularly following the repeated changes in his custody and the ongoing court proceedings.

Hauwa also appealed to Bodejo’s supporters and members of the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
She urged everyone to allow the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations and permit the legal process to take its course while ensuring that Bodejo’s rights were respected.
The latest development adds another layer to Bodejo’s ongoing legal troubles, with attention now focused on whether the DSS will explain his reported re-arrest and disclose the next steps in the case.
