Driver Behind Fatal Crash That Killed Anthony Joshua’s Coaches Appears in Court

Adeniyi Kayode, 46, the driver involved in the deadly crash that claimed the lives of two of Anthony Joshua’s close associates, appeared today, January 20, at Sagamu Magistrate Court, Ogun State, as his trial commenced.

Kayode faces four charges: dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and operating a vehicle without a valid national driver’s license.

The court granted him ₦5 million bail with two sureties, adjourning the case for trial.

The tragedy occurred on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and was reportedly caused by speeding and wrongful overtaking.

While boxing star Joshua survived the crash, his personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, were killed.

Journalists and legal practitioners gathered at the court today, awaiting the high-profile trial.
