Canadian superstar Drake lost a $300,000 bet on his country’s soccer team in the Copa America semifinal against Argentina.
He hoped to win $2.88 million if Canada had won, but they lost 2-0 to Argentina at New York’s MetLife Stadium on Tuesday night.
Lionel Messi and Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez scored the goals that secured Argentina’s place in the final.
Drake had shared his bet slip on Instagram earlier on Tuesday, writing, “This could get Messi @stake.”
Argentina will face the winner of the semifinal match between Uruguay and Colombia in the final at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Sunday, July 14. Canada will compete in the third-place playoff against the loser of that match.
