The National Examination Council (NECO) is all set for the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) happening on April 20.
Mr. Azeez Sani, who is the acting director of the Directorate of Information and Digital Communication of NCEE, talked about this in an interview in Lagos on Tuesday.
“the examination is on April 20 and we are doing everything necessary to ensure a successful conduct. However, we need maximum cooperation of parents”.
He explained that the NCEE, organized by NECO, is for final-year primary school pupils. Its purpose is to give them a chance to get into JSS1 in Federal Unity Colleges all over Nigeria.
Sani emphasized the importance of parents maintaining order during the exam. He said parents should bring their kids for the exam but avoid overcrowding the center.
They must behave calmly to ensure the candidates can focus without distractions.
“The candidates are children who need concentration and we don’t want noise or any form of distraction during the examination. This is an appeal.
The age range for candidates will be from 10 to 13 years old by September 2024, according to the Federal Government’s directive. Sani pointed out that children below 10 years old are not eligible to take the exam.”
He urged parents not to rush their children’s education, as it could negatively impact them in the future.
He said, “We’re using this opportunity to tell parents to appeal to their conscience and stop rushing their children’s education because it will affect them later.”
Sani also expressed confidence that schools have prepared their students well for the exam.
The NCEE is an important opportunity for primary school pupils to enter Federal Unity Colleges, and parents play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and distraction-free examination environment for their children.
