Directives from the president saved the military-

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai has commended President Muhammad Buhari’s leadership capability, stating how a single  presidential directive led to unprecedented victory against Boko Haram.
Presenting a speech at a conference on Peace Building and Reconstruction in Lake Chad Basin held in Yola, Burutai said  the directive to  relocate the Army Command and Control Centre ‎to Maiduguri was key to military success in the North East.
He said strategic decisions taken by the president provided a new focus and energy to the Nigerian troops ‎fighting Boko Haram.
‎”I received a Presidential directive to move the Army Command and Control Centre to Maiduguri and to subsequently defeat Boko Haram by December last year. This strategic directive provided the platform upon which we undertook the task which has largely been achieved,” he stated, adding that the military would not relent until all liberated towns and villages had become safe for economic and social activities.
He commended Nigerian legislators, governments of neighboring countries, the African Union and the  international community for their support in the war against insurgency in Nigeria.
