DFB fines Boniface €25,500, Bans Him for Inappropriate Gesture

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has been hit with a one-match ban and a fine of €25,500 by the German Football Association for an offensive gesture.

The 23-year-old made the gesture by showing his opponent the middle finger after the penalty shootout and ran past them during the Super Cup final against Stuttgart at the Bay Arena on Saturday.

The club accepted the judgment, which also involves another player, Martin Terrier, who will miss three upcoming matches.
“After receiving a red card in the Super Cup, Martin Terrier has been banned for two domestic cup games by the DFB.
Victor Boniface has also been banned for one domestic cup game and fined €25,000.
#Bayer04 has agreed to the respective judgments.”
Boniface helped his side win the Super Cup after scoring the first goal for his team in the first half of the final, which ended 2-2 and was decided by a penalty shootout. Bayer Leverkusen won after two Stuttgart players missed their spot kicks.
The ban means Boniface will miss Leverkusen’s tie against Carl Zeiss Jena in the German Cup on Saturday but will return to play when the Bundesliga champions begin their defense of the title on Friday against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
