The immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has denied ownership of an ongoing massive building located in Asaba, Delta State Capital, expected to become the biggest hotel in the town when completed.

Videos of the facility started trending over the weekend, with the claims that the former governor was the owner.
Obiano, who is facing many charges from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over corruption and misappropriation of public funds, has distanced himself from the ongoing project.
Speaking through Tony Nezianya, his Chief Publicist on Monday, Obiano said the reports were the handiwork of detractors aimed at rubbishing his image.
”This is the hallmark of detractors out there to embarrass me and what I stand for,” states Chief Obiano.
”I do not own such a property, and I have no plans either now in the future for such a property.
”I do not have knowledge of this property. I am not in any way connected to it.
“This can become a disservice to claim a property belongs to someone else.
“It is baffling that someone sits at home to conjure this blatant falsehood just to cast aspersion at an innocent fellow,” Obiano said in a statement signed by Nezianya.
Meanwhile, the latest updates have also emerged that the building is being constructed by an oil mogul in the state.
A source, who wants to remain anonymous noted that Obiano has no connection with the project.
“This is all media propaganda. The hotel belongs to Ejison opposite Vacation Villa Hotel at Asaba.
“He is equally building such hotel at Onitsha GRA, but Onitsha people stopped him with a court order for the past three years, saying they were not compensated when the land was taken by the government,” the source revealed.
