Delta at 35: Oborevwori Pledges Sustained Development, Prosperity

Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining development, expanding opportunities and improving prosperity across the state as Delta marks its 35th anniversary.

Oborevwori made the commitment in a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba on Thursday to commemorate the creation of the state on Aug. 27, 1991.

The governor described the anniversary as a major milestone, saying Delta’s 35-year journey had reflected resilience, unity and the collective efforts of its people.

He commended successive administrations, traditional and religious leaders, civil servants, private-sector stakeholders, and residents for their contributions to the state’s growth since its creation.

Oborevwori said his administration would build on the achievements of previous governments through people-focused policies, infrastructure renewal, economic expansion and inclusive governance.

He said ongoing projects and reforms across the state demonstrated his administration’s determination to deliver the dividends of democracy and create opportunities for residents.

The governor urged Deltans to remain united and support the government’s development agenda, assuring them that the state had a brighter future ahead.

“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today.

The shining era of Delta is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” he said.

Oborevwori congratulated Deltans at home and abroad on the anniversary and urged them to renew their commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility in advancing the state.

Delta State was created on Aug. 27, 1991, alongside other states by the military administration led by retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.
