Delta APC Picks 25 LGA Executives in Smooth Consensus Sweep

Like a well-rehearsed orchestra hitting every note in harmony, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Saturday conducted its local government congresses without a ripple of discord, producing executives across all 25 LGAs through consensus.

From the creeks to the uplands, party faithful trooped out in large numbers, turning the exercise into a political carnival marked by order and coordination. Observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, representatives of the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, and members of the media kept watch as the process unfolded calmly across the state.

At the party’s secretariat in Asaba, the state Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, formally welcomed members of the APC National Congress Committee assigned to Delta. He lauded the seamless conduct of the earlier ward congresses and urged the committee to stay the course by strictly following party guidelines while supervising the LGA exercise.

Speaking afterward, the Committee’s Secretary, Mr Simon Atigwe, reassured party members that their assignment was to ensure a “transparent and inclusive process” capable of deepening unity and cementing internal cohesion.

After touring the three senatorial districts, Atigwe expressed delight at the impressive turnout and disciplined conduct of party members in the LGAs visited. He described Delta as a strategic stronghold for the APC, pointing to the calm atmosphere and watertight security that framed the exercise.

Heavyweights within the party across the LGAs also hailed the outcome. The Minister of Aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo, praised members for what he described as a smooth and successful congress. He rallied supporters to begin mobilising for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027, urging them to keep their eyes firmly on the prize.

In Ika North-East, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, commended what they called a transparent and inclusive process, noting that consensus prevailed without bitterness.

Echoing similar sentiments, the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA, Dr Kelvin Ezenyili, described the congress as rancour-free, stressing that executives emerged through genuine consensus and affirmation rather than acrimony.

Prominent figures from Oshimili North LGA, including Mr Frank Esenwa, Chief Innocent Esewezie, Chief Patrick Ukah, and Mr Olisa Ifeajika, also applauded the peaceful conduct of the exercise, describing it as a sign that the party’s house was in order.
