Dele Momodu Urges Davido and Sophia Momodu to Resolve Custody Dispute Privately

Dele Momodu, the Publisher of Ovation International and uncle to Sophia Momodu (Davido’s first daughter’s mother) has advised both Davido and Sophia to stop making harmful statements about their child custody dispute on social media.

He shared his thoughts on Instagram, emphasizing the importance of avoiding inflammatory language for the sake of their child’s well-being.

Momodu urged both parties to focus on their daughter’s needs and find a compromise regarding custody and financial responsibilities.

The issue is currently being litigated in court.

In a detailed post titled “MY CANDID OPINION ON DAVID ADELEKE vs SOPHIA MOMODU,” Momodu explained that Davido had recently contacted him, upset about a counter-affidavit filed in response to his request for joint custody. Momodu expressed surprise, as Davido had not mentioned any custody issues during a recent video call about his upcoming wedding.

Momodu recounted how he had previously thanked Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, for supporting Sophia and her daughter during Davido’s absence. He also noted that there had been no previous issues with joint custody, only problems related to unpaid school fees, accommodation, and nanny salaries. These issues were mostly resolved with the help of Davido’s father.

However, Sophia had declined an offer to live in a family apartment, preferring to maintain some distance from Davido’s family. She suggested that Davido cover half of her accommodation costs, but he offered N5 million annually instead.

Momodu believes that the lack of cooperation between Davido and Sophia has caused these problems and urged them to ensure their daughter is not treated poorly due to their disagreements. He highlighted that Sophia had allowed Davido access to their daughter, provided a nanny was present, and shared examples of times when Sophia facilitated visits with Davido’s family.

The court has referred the case for alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and Momodu strongly recommends that both parents engage with this process instead of making damaging statements online. He has spent nine years trying to help them resolve their issues amicably and stressed the importance of a structured and safe arrangement for their daughter’s welfare. Sophia is not instigating the court action but is seeking to protect her daughter and ensure a stable relationship with her father.
