Dele Alake, Jumoke Oduwole Meet in Abuja to Push Mineral Value Addition, Industrial Growth

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on Tuesday received the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development headquarters in Abuja for talks on cross-sector collaboration.

Alake said the meeting focused on how both ministries can work together to drive value addition, support industrial growth, and create more jobs through Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

In a post on his X handle after the meeting, Alake stated that he remains committed to unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s mineral resources through strategic partnerships.

The engagement signals growing coordination between the solid minerals and industry portfolios under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with both ministries targeting downstream processing of minerals such as lithium, gold, and limestone to reduce raw material exports and boost manufacturing.

No specific agreements were announced at the meeting, but Alake’s post suggests that inter-ministerial collaboration will be central to upcoming reforms in the sector.

Both ministers have in recent months emphasized local processing, investor confidence, and job creation as key priorities for Nigeria’s mining and industrial policy.
