Defence Minister Musa Dismisses Resignation Rumours

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has dismissed reports claiming he plans to resign from office amid the country’s security challenges, describing the rumours as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the minister said the reports alleging he had expressed an intention to step aside were fabricated and intended to mislead the public.
According to the statement obtained by The News Chronicle, General Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities and focused on implementing the nation’s defence strategy to address insecurity.
“We wish to state unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms that these rumours are absolute falsehoods borne out of complete mischief,” the statement said.
It added that the minister remains dedicated to his national security mandate, stressing that his efforts are already yielding positive results.
The ministry urged members of the public to disregard the false reports and advised media organisations and social media users to verify information with the appropriate authorities before publication.
