Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has shared how he manages the deep pain of losing close family members and friends.

Despite experiencing significant grief throughout his life, he draws strength from his faith to keep going.

Davido’s journey with loss started at a young age. When he was just 11, he lost his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke. Sadly, the heartbreak didn’t stop there. Over the years, he has also mourned the loss of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, as well as close friends like Tagbo, DJ Olu, and Obama DMW. His personal photographer, Fortune, also passed away in what felt like an unending series of tragic events.

In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, Davido spoke about how his faith and inner strength have helped him cope during these tough times. Reflecting on how he manages to stay strong, he said:

“I’ve lost a lot of people. My mum died when I was eleven. I’m just trying to stay strong. I even wrote a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel that strength and my faith are what keep me going.”

Davido also addressed some misconceptions people have about him. As a famous artist from a prominent family, he often feels misunderstood.

He explained: “Sometimes, people think I’m unapproachable. Others think I’m too accessible. I grew up in a big family, so I’m used to being around people. My talent and success are blessings from God.”

Davido has always proven to have a resilient heart and a never broken spirit.
