Dapper Music Fires Back at Former Artists’ Allegations

Music label Dapper Music & Entertainment has responded to explosive allegations from former artists Shallipopi and Muyeez, who accused the label of mismanagement, exploitation, and shady contract dealings.

In a statement addressing the claims, Dapper Music stood firm, stating that transparency and fairness are at the core of its operations.

“Every contract we offer is clear and mutually agreed upon,” the label explained. “Artists are always encouraged to have legal representation before signing any agreement.”

The label denied Shallipopi’s claim of being tied to a “forever deal,” explaining that his contract was renegotiated in October 2024.

“After Shallipopi’s first album took off, we worked with him to review and adjust the contract terms,” Dapper Music stated. “On October 28, 2024, a new agreement was signed, giving him more freedom to explore other opportunities. This wasn’t coercion; it was a collaborative decision made with his legal team’s full involvement.”

The label also addressed Muyeez’s allegations, clarifying that his contract was signed by his father and legal guardian, Moshood Basheer, with witnesses present. “It’s completely false that Muyeez signed the agreement as a minor,” the label emphasized.

Dapper Music defended its 30% management commission, calling it a standard practice in the industry, reflecting the significant resources and investments needed to nurture and sustain an artist’s career.

They expressed shock at Shallipopi’s claims, particularly since the label had been cooperating with auditors he hired to review their dealings.

The label described the accusations as “false, calculated, and premeditated attacks” intended to tarnish its reputation amidst its growing success.

“We operate with integrity and are fully prepared to resolve disputes through proper legal channels,” Dapper Music declared. “Matters like this should not be settled in the court of public opinion. Legal agreements exist for a reason, and they protect both parties involved.”

The label maintained its commitment to fairness and transparency, assuring fans and stakeholders that it remains focused on creating opportunities for artists while upholding industry standards.
