‘Danielle Is My Daughter’ – Yul Edochie Speaks on Rift with May Edochie and Infidelity

Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has spoken about his relationship with his first daughter, Danielle, and shared his views on infidelity during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast.

Speaking about Danielle, whom he shares with his estranged wife, May Edochie, the actor said they still maintain a close relationship despite public speculation about tension within the family.

“We are very close. She is just 21, I don’t expect her to understand me. When I was 21, I didn’t understand my father,” he said.

The 43-year-old actor added that it was natural for Danielle to feel more connected to her mother during the ongoing family dispute.

“There will be a tilt towards her mother; it is a normal thing,” he stated.

Yul Edochie also responded to criticism over claims that he does not publicly acknowledge his children with May Edochie on social media.

According to him, a court directive prevents him from posting content related to the children online.

“There’s a court order that I shouldn’t post anything related to my children with my ex-wife. That’s why I don’t post them. I am present in their lives, I just don’t post them on social media,” he said.

The actor disclosed that he recently attended a court hearing in Lagos, where he met Danielle.

“She greeted and hugged me. Danielle is my daughter, and nothing will change that,” he added.

During the podcast, Edochie also shared his opinion on infidelity, saying women who cheat in relationships are usually no longer emotionally attached to their partners.

“Once a woman begins to cheat, she has checked out emotionally and psychologically,” he said.

He further argued that many men stay in relationships with women who are emotionally invested elsewhere.

“If you meet a woman who loves you, she will be willing to do anything for you. But the problem is that a lot of men are with women who don’t love them and are wasting their time,” he stated.

Edochie also said he does not believe cheating should be forgiven in relationships.

“There is nothing like forgiveness when it comes to cheating. If you do, you are a weak man,” he said.

The comments drew mixed reactions online, with some users defending the actor while others criticized his remarks and revisited the controversy surrounding his marriage to May Edochie and his relationship with actress Judy Austin.

An X user @MysticFola wrote: “This is the same man who announced his second wife and pregnancy on Instagram while still married to the first one.”

Another user, @ARSENALMAN, said: “That is because you messed up, she should be the one dragging you.”

User @SamuelJadon criticized the actor for discussing private matters publicly, writing: “No one cares about your feelings, just don’t take it to the media.”

Others defended him and praised his comments about handling family matters privately.

“That’s maturity. Not every fight needs a public audience,” he wrote.

Another user said: “Choosing not to publicly drag an ex-partner reflects emotional restraint.”

Some users also reacted emotionally to his comments about his former marriage.

“He still misses his family,” one person posted, while another user replied: “The deeds have been done, everyone should move on.”

Yul Edochie and May Edochie got married in 2004, when the actor was just 22 years old.

Their marriage began facing public problems in April 2022 after Yul announced his relationship with actress Judy Austin and introduced her as his second wife. May later filed for divorce in August 2023 on grounds of adultery. The divorce case is still pending in court, but the couple has been publicly separated since 2022.

Yul and May have four children together: Danielle, Kambilichukwu (their first son, who died in 2023), Karl, and Victory Zane.

Yul also has three children with Judy Austin, bringing his total to six, according to public records.
