Dani Alves sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for sexual assault

Former Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison for sexual assault following an incident involving a 23-year-old woman at a nightclub in Barcelona.

Evidence presented in court from the Audiencia Nacional confirmed that the woman did not consent to sexual activity with Alves, ultimately leading to his conviction.

Despite denying the allegations, Alves plans to appeal the verdict, with his lawyer asserting his innocence.

“We will appeal as I’m still convinced that Dani is innocent”, Inés Guardiola added today.

In addition to the prison sentence, Alves has been ordered to pay €9,000 for physical assault and has offered compensation of €150,000 to the victim, a gesture considered by the court during sentencing. He will also be subject to five years of legal supervision and a restraining order preventing contact with the victim for nine years and six months.

Alves, a renowned footballer known for his attacking prowess, has had a distinguished career, playing for Barcelona, Juventus, PSG, São Paulo, and UNAM, accumulating a total of 614 league appearances and winning 43 trophies.
