In an emotional ceremony filled with prayers and reflection, Aliko Dangote and Tajuddeen Dantata, the eldest son of the late business icon Aminu Dantata, welcomed a high-level delegation from Kano and Jigawa States in Madina on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Kano State Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the delegation visited to pay their final respects to the late philanthropist and businessman.
Leading the delegation were Kano State Governor, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, former Jigawa Governor Barrister Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, and the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II. They joined the family ahead of the funeral rites, which were scheduled to take place after Asr prayer at the Holy Mosque.
Tajuddeen Dantata expressed deep appreciation for the visit, saying it showed the widespread love and respect his father earned across Nigeria and beyond.
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s leading industrialist and a member of the Dantata family, also thanked the delegation for standing with the family during their time of grief.
A highlight of the gathering was when Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II led a special prayer for the late Aminu Dantata.
The prayer recognized Dantata’s legacy of philanthropy, community development, and his major role in shaping Nigeria’s business landscape.
Earlier, the delegation visited the family’s residence at Mobeed Hotel in Madina to personally offer their condolences.
Other prominent figures present included the Emir of Karaye, Dr. Muhammad Mahraz, and the Chairman of the Kano Business Community, Alhaji Sabiu Bako reflecting the significant influence Aminu Dantata had on many lives.
As thousands gather in Madina to honor him, the outpouring of prayers and respect captures the legacy of a man whose generosity and vision impacted generations.
