Cyclist Speeds To Death In Anambra

 

Awka – A fatal accident at Nteje-Awka expressway on Tuesday, has resulted in the death of an unidentified man.

The crash involved to deceased who rode a Jencheng private motorcycle with Anambra registration number, ZLL-108-QU and a driver of a blue Mercedes 911 truck identified as Mr. Ikenna Ozonwadinkpa, with Anambra registration number GDD-630-XA.

TNC correspondent in Anambra gathered that the fatal crash was overspeed.

An eye witness who spoke, said the driver of the motorcycle was on high speed when he lost control while trying to overtake the Mercedes truck and crashed into the truck.

The cyclist was said to have died on the spot but was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC in Anambra, Margaret Onabe said five people were involved in the crash which comprised 4 male adult, and 1 female adult.

She revealed that one female was injured as a result of the crash while one male killed.

As at the time of filling this report, the injured victim has been taken to CHIRA Hospital, Awkuzu while the dead has been deposited at the hospital Morgue.

“FRSC Officers and men were promptly deployed to manage traffic and ensure obstructions caused is cleared.

“The Sector Commander Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, expresses his sympathy to the family of the dead victim.

“He urges motorists to desist from speeding and to ensure the road is clear before overtaking especially now that the EMBER months are around the corner.

“Traffic rules and regulations should be obeyed always,” she said.
