Customs probes viral video: Female officer demands N5000 bribe

The Nigeria Customs Service has begun an investigation into a viral video showing one of its officers soliciting a ₦5000 bribe.

According to the official statement, the incident occurred at the New Terminal within the departure hall of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, as captured by the passenger involved.

The NCS affirmed that the implicated officer was duly assigned to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Area Command.

Strongly condemning the unprofessional conduct, the NCS emphasized its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism. The Customs’ spokesperson confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is still underway, and appropriate actions will be taken, as the behavior contradicts the core values of the service.
