The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, has inspected the Customs Training College, Goron Dutse, Kano, ahead of the 2026 Basic Training Programme.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said the visit was part of the service’s preparations for the 2025/2026 recruitment training programme.
Adeniyi assessed the facilities, ongoing projects, logistics and general readiness of the college to accommodate incoming recruits.
The CGC was received by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, Assistant Comptroller-General Nsikan Umoh; Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit Zone B, Aminu Sule; College Commandant, Deputy Comptroller Umar Atiku; and other principal officers and unit heads.
Adeniyi reaffirmed the commitment of the service to providing the necessary facilities, logistics and conducive environment for effective training and capacity development of new recruits.
He stressed the need for the college to be adequately equipped to deliver professional basic training that would prepare recruits for their responsibilities in the service’s nationwide operations.
Adeniyi noted that investment in training infrastructure directly impacts operational efficiency, border security and revenue generation.

He added that personnel welfare remained central to the transformation agenda of the NCS.
The Commandant, Atiku, briefed the CGC on the college’s activities, ongoing developments and preparations to receive the incoming recruits expected to commence training at the Kano facility.
The CGC toured the classrooms, hostels, parade ground, workshops and support facilities to assess the college’s readiness and identify areas requiring urgent intervention before the recruits’ resumption.
He directed immediate action on the identified gaps and charged officers to uphold discipline and professionalism.
Adeniyi assured that the service would continue to support the college in producing world-class personnel for the NCS.
