The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has constituted an Election Petition Tribunal to hear petitions arising from Saturday’s National and State Houses of Assembly by-elections in Delta.
The tribunal was constituted pursuant to the powers vested in the President of the Court of Appeal by the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
According to the statement, Dongban-Mensem constituted the tribunal under Sections 285(2) and (3) and paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution, as well as Section 134(2) and (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
The tribunal will handle petitions arising from the National and State Houses of Assembly by-elections held in Delta on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The statement said the Delta State Secretariat of the Election Petition Tribunal is located at the Multi-Door Courthouse, High Court of Justice Complex, Asaba.
The constitution of the tribunal provides the judicial forum for the determination of any petitions arising from the by-elections.
