Collapsed Luton Town player discharged from hospital

Luton Town has released a statement regarding Tom Lockyer, who collapsed due to Cardiac arrest on the pitch during their Premier game against Bournemouth last week. The club confirmed his discharge from the hospital today, and he will commence rehabilitation at home immediately.

“We are thankful to report that our captain Tom Lockyer has now begun a period of rehabilitation from the comfort of his own home after he was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.”

Tom suffered cardiac arrest in the second half of the game on their turf. The Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing was the first to reach out to Tom and inform the center referee of the ugly incident which led to the suspension of the game. The game, which was already on a 1-1 score, was completely abandoned after the medical team took longer to rescue his life.

While thanking well-wishers who reached out to the team on Tom’s behalf, the club also said, the player will continue his leadership on the sideline when they play on Saturday.

“Tom, his family, and the Club would like to thank everyone in the football family who has sent messages of concern and love. The level of support has been overwhelming.

We’re so proud to have Locks as our captain and his leadership will continue from the sidelines where his courage will inspire his team-mates, colleagues, and supporters, starting on Saturday.”
