COAS pledges increased assistance to overcome security hurdles in Zamfara State

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, expressed his admiration and gratitude towards the troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in combating terrorism and insurgency in the North West region of Nigeria.

His commendation came during his operational visit to the 1 Brigade Area of Responsibility in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

During his visit, he was briefed by Brig. Gen. Sani Ahmed, the Commander of 1 Brigade, on the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity II and the remarkable achievements of the troops in Zamfara and neighboring states.

Gen. Lagbaja assured the Brigade of increased support, including combat enablers and other operational necessities, to bolster their effectiveness in securing their designated Area of Responsibility.

He recognized the importance of enhancing the troops’ capabilities to effectively tackle the security challenges in the region.

Additionally, the COAS took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Emir of Gusau, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Bello Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, during a courtesy visit.

He expressed appreciation for the continuous support of the royal father and the people of Gusau towards the troops and the Nigerian Army at large.

Gen. Lagbaja emphasized the pivotal role of community support and cooperation in overcoming terrorism and insurgency, reaffirming his belief that with the sustained backing of the people, victory over these threats is attainable.
