COAS engages with AWCN, emphasizes resource management and ethics for operational success

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, met with participants of the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 8/2024 in Abuja on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

He spoke about the importance of the participants’ role as future commanders in the success of the Nigerian Army and emphasized the need for effective resource management.

General Lagbaja stressed the importance of using limited resources wisely and finding innovative solutions to overcome challenges in equipment, logistics, and command and control.

He also shared his Command Philosophy and talked about the Nigerian Army’s efforts in dealing with security threats in Nigeria, encouraging the participants to be bold in addressing these challenges.

The COAS highlighted leadership, operational effectiveness, and sound administration as essential for achieving the Nigerian Army’s strategic objectives.

He emphasized readiness, adaptability, and investing in troops’ training to promote cost-effectiveness in wartime.

General Lagbaja mentioned some achievements during his administration, including providing combat support for ongoing operations against terrorism and insurgency, improving infrastructure in Army barracks, and enhancing troops’ welfare through increased allowances and support for families.

The Commandant of AWCN, Major General Ishaya Maina, explained that the interactive session aimed to deepen the participants’ understanding of the COAS’ vision and their roles in achieving it.

He noted that the participants were currently focusing on Inter-Agency Cooperation and Coordination, highlighting the importance of collaboration among different government entities to address national security challenges effectively.
