The Citizen Joint Tactical Formation (CJTF-TF), Nigeria, has proposed deploying 450 volunteer personnel to gather intelligence along the Wase/Bashar axis of Plateau State as part of efforts to strengthen security in the area.
The organisation disclosed that the proposal followed a correspondence from the Nigerian Army Headquarters acknowledging receipt of its operational profile.
Its Commander General and National Coordinator, Tanimu Shehu, made this known in a statement on Monday, noting that the correspondence was dated February 24, 2026.
According to Shehu, the Army Headquarters, through its Department of Army Operations in Abuja, directed the organisation to liaise with the Headquarters of the 3 Division in Jos on civil-collaborative intelligence initiatives aimed at improving security in Plateau State.
He said the organisation remained committed to operating within the framework of Nigerian law and maintaining proper coordination with recognised security agencies.
In a related development, the CJTF-TF announced the appointment of Pastor Francis Elijah Umukoro of Redemption City as an adviser to its National Headquarters and Grand Patron of its Ogun State Command.

Shehu explained that the appointments were intended to strengthen the organisation’s leadership, community engagement and institutional support.
He described Umukoro as a community leader with interests in community development and youth empowerment, adding that the cleric had pledged to support the organisation through strategic guidance and community engagement.
The CJTF-TF commander also directed acting state commanders and coordinators across the country to establish councils comprising five to six Grand Patrons.
He said the proposed councils should include influential individuals from community leadership, religious institutions and the business sector.
According to him, the councils would provide strategic advice, promote accountability, support personnel welfare and facilitate engagement with government authorities and security agencies.
The statement emphasised that appointing only one patron would not satisfy the organisation’s requirements, stressing the need for councils to broaden its support base and strengthen its institutional structure.
The proposed deployment of the 450 volunteers is expected to focus on intelligence gathering, subject to appropriate coordination with the relevant military authorities.
