There has been an outbreak of cholera in Abuja. Cases of the outbreak have been reported at Mpape area of the capital city.
However, authorities in Abuja are trying to bury the story because they reason it will cause a panic in the city.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), investigations into the outbreak have begun.
The Director of the centre, Professor Nasidi Abdulsalam said that samples from affected people had been collected for laboratory test. He also claimed to have the situation under control.
Cholera is a disease that is caused by a bacterium –bacterium Vibrio Cholerae. It symptoms include watery diarrhea and vomiting. Transmission is by drinking water or eating food that has been contaminated by an infected person.
So, Abuja residents be on the alert.
