Chinedum Anayo Urges Increased Focus on Mental Health in Nigeria

Nigerian media consultant and public affairs analyst, Chinedum Anayo, has called for greater attention to mental health in Nigeria, emphasizing its often-overlooked importance.

Speaking on Waysshow during a segment on ‘Managing Anxiety for Professionals’, Anayo highlighted the growing mental health crisis, particularly among professionals in high-stress environments.

Anayo stressed the urgent need for the integration of mental health services into both public and private sectors.

He noted that while physical health receives substantial focus, mental health issues such as anxiety often go unnoticed.

“Many professionals are quietly battling anxiety and mental health challenges as they navigate the pressures of work, family, and societal expectations,” he stated.

According to Anayo, implementing mental health initiatives in workplaces is key to addressing these challenges.

He advocated for the inclusion of counseling services and support systems in corporate policies, arguing that it would not only improve employees’ well-being but also boost productivity.

Anayo’s remarks reflect a broader call to action, urging Nigerian institutions to destigmatize mental health issues and create environments that foster psychological support for individuals across all sectors.
