Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace with their youngest-ever Premier League starting XI

Chelsea last night triumphed over Crystal with their youngest ever Premier League starting eleven, at 23 years and 21 days. The Blues victory of 2-1 against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge was a feat made by the youngest starting eleven last night.

The team was available to pick after Sterling, who is regular at age 29, was out due to suspension. Captain Reece James is also not available due to injury, while Mauricio Pochettino started Thiago Silva from the bench.

Chelsea’s starting XI eleven against Crystal Palace and their age:

Djordje Petrovic 24, Malo Gusto 20, Axel Disasi 25, Benoit Badiashile 22, Levi Colwill 22, Moises Caicedo 22, Conor Gallagher 23, Mykhailo Mudryk 22, Christopher Nkunku 26, Ian Maatsen 21, and Nicholas Jackson 22.

Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk aided Chelsea to a perfect start, scoring an early goal to give Chelsea the lead, unfortunately, Crystal Palace leveled up just before half-time – earning a half-time draw. Noni Madueke rescued Chelsea with a late winning strike, it was his first Premier League goal since arriving this summer.

Chelsea’s manager said he’s pleased with the performance from the team despite a first half sloppy start:

“When you come from a not nice result, it’s always a difficult moment to play. It was really tough, but I’m pleased with the performance overall.

‘We didn’t start well; we were a little bit nervous and struggled because we were thinking too much about a game we really needed to win.

‘We created chances to score, we scored, but I wasn’t so happy we conceded in the last minute. In the second half, we started well again and played a bit more, and I’m so happy the players from the bench had such a good impact.
