Chelsea are listening to offers for Oscar — report

Interesting developments late on Tuesday after the morning round of rumors resurrected Italian interest (Inter Milan, to be specific) in Chelsea midfielder Oscar.  According to the normally well-sourced Matt Law at the Telegraph“Chelsea are open to offers for out-of-favour midfielder Oscar” and are expecting to field interest from the aforementioned Internazionale as well as repeat interest from China.  Oscar had rejected a hefty offer from China last winter.

Chelsea are looking for at least £25m.

Oscar started the season well enough, and had even earned a recall to the Brazilian national team in October after a couple good showings.  But he’s not found his way back into the first-team since the formation switch to 3-4-3 (or the national team, for that matter), and on current form, it’s hard to see him playing a significant role at either.  That’s not to say he wouldn’t be useful — he’s certainly versatile and skilled enough to deputize in attack or perhaps even in midfield (certainly in a three-man configuration) — but much like in the case of Cesc Fàbregas, there’s just not enough minutes to go around at the moment.

Speaking of Cesc, the Telegraph’s report reiterates previous rumors of Chelsea letting him go as well in January, in addition to Mikel and Ivanović, should they so choose.

The next two transfer windows could be quite busy.
