Chelle Signals Squad Rotation as Super Eagles Eye Strong Finish Against Uganda

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has hinted at changes to his starting line up ahead of Nigeria’s final Group C clash against Uganda, as the team prepares to close the group stage on a high note despite already securing qualification.

 

Speaking ahead of the match, Chelle defended his squad selection choices, stressing that tactical demands and collective success outweigh individual concerns. He explained that decisions made during games are based on match dynamics and the need to keep the squad competitive throughout the tournament.

 

The coach noted that tournament football requires effective squad management, adding that impact players can emerge at any moment, even with limited minutes on the pitch. He dismissed suggestions of favoritism, insisting that every player remains important to Nigeria’s campaign and will get opportunities as the competition progresses.

 

Chelle also played down injury worries in the camp, confirming that only minor knocks have been reported among a few players, with final decisions to be taken after the last training session. He maintained that substitutions are driven by in game assessments and outcomes rather than sentiment.

 

The technical crew is considering rotation not only to manage player fitness but also to test tactical flexibility ahead of the knockout phase.

 

Nigeria faces Uganda later today, with Chelle expected to strike a balance between maintaining momentum and managing his squad as the Super Eagles target a flawless group stage finish.
