A 33-year-old man, Adegboyega Adeyanju, has found himself in hot water after he was hauled before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over the alleged theft of 103 bags of cement valued at N1.045 million.
We gathered that Adeyanju, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a single count of stealing. He pleaded not guilty, setting the stage for a legal battle.
Prosecutor, Insp. Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the alleged offence was carried out on December 29, 2025, along Oreta Road in the Igbogbo area of Ikorodu. She said the cement reportedly belonged to the complainant, Mr. Edeh Ndubisi, and was carted away under suspicious circumstances.
According to the prosecution, the long arm of the law eventually caught up with the defendant after police investigations tracked him down.
Famuyiwa added that the alleged offence runs foul of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In his ruling, Magistrate O. A. Ogbe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000, with two sureties in like amount. He directed that the addresses of the sureties be verified and adjourned the matter until January 22 for mention.
For now, the accused walks free—but with the weight of the law hanging over his head like a sword of Damocles.
