Cardiac Arrest: AS Roma Issues Statement on Evan Ndicka

AS Roma has provided a medical update on Evan Ndicka, the Ivorian full back, who experienced discomfort in his chest during the team’s match against Udinese yesterday has undergone stages of tests with further evaluation to follow.

Due to the urgent medical situation, the game was abandoned in the 71st minute; a few minutes after Romelu Lukaku grabbed AS Roma’s equalizer

Following acute precordial pain and a typical alternations in the EKG administered in the first aid room at the stadium, the player Evan Ndicka was hospitalized at the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Udine.

The club stated that the player has completed both initial and secondary cardiological examinations, indicating a thoracic injury with minor left pneumothorax:

First and second-level cardiological tests were administered that were negative for cardiac pathologies. In light of the last tests undergone this morning, the medical situation is compatible with a thoracic trauma with minimal left pneumothorax.

The player was discharged and will undergo additional tests in Rome.”

Moreover, the club expressed gratitude to the referee, medical staff, and the supportive reception from the fans at the stadium.
