CapCut, a video editing app owned by Bytedance, will stop offering free cloud storage for creators starting August 5, 2024.
Previously, users enjoyed 1 GB of free cloud storage, but this service will be discontinued.
Now, users will have to pay for cloud storage on CapCut.
There are two subscription plans available: $2.49 per month for 100GB of storage and $7.49 per month for 1000GB of storage.
The free tier, which used to allow up to five collaborators per account, will now only permit two collaborators.
Beginning August 5th, users can include one collaborator at no cost.
Adding more collaborators will require purchasing the Team Tier package. These changes are part of CapCut’s updated terms for its free tier users.
CapCut was first launched as JianYing [zh] in China in 2019 for iPhone and Android users.
In 2020, it changed its name to CapCut and started being used worldwide.
It now works on computers too, for both Mac and Windows.
By March 2023, CapCut had more than 200 million people using it every month around the world.
