The first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup matches involving three Nigerian clubs—Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars, and El Kanemi Warriors—has been played.
Nigeria Premier League winners Enugu Rangers and league runners-up Remo Stars earned crucial three points against their African counterparts.
Zilimadjou played their home game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, where Rangers secured a victory. Meanwhile, Remo Stars won 2-1 against FAR Rabat of Morocco in Ikenne, Ogun State, while El Kanemi Warriors were held to a 1-1 draw by Dadje FC in Ogun State yesterday.
Uwumiro Frank’s goal in the 22nd minute was enough to put the Flying Antelopes ahead of their visitors in the first leg of the round.
Despite taking an early lead through Junior Nduka, Remo Stars conceded a goal just four minutes into the second half. However, a Super Eagles star’s header in the 68th minute returned the Blues to winning ways, with the game ending 2-1 in their favor.

Meanwhile, El Kanemi Warriors came from behind to share a point against Dadje FC on Saturday in Ogun State.

The second leg of the preliminary round will take place next week, with all three Nigerian clubs set to face their opponents in an away tie.
