Nigerian and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been shortlisted for the last 10-man jostling for the 2023 CAF Best Player of the Year award. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) reduced the 30-man initial provisional squad to 10 this afternoon.
Victor Osimhen, being the favourite to win the award, will compete with the likes of Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Riyad Marhez of Al Ahli, Sadio Mané of Al Nassr, and others.

In 2003 and 2004, Jay Jay Okocha finished in third place to Samuel Eto and Didier Drogba respectively. In 2013, John Mikel Obi ended as a runner-up to Yaya Toure of the Ivory Coast while in 2014 Vincent Enyeama earned the third spot below Yaya Toure and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
