The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza, winner of the Nasarawa North Senatorial District by-election.
Announcing the result on Sunday at the College of Education, Akwanga, the Returning Officer, Professor Aminu Ali, said Envulu-Anza secured a total of 45,362 votes to emerge victorious in the keenly contested poll.
His closest challenger, former Information Minister and Labour Party (LP) candidate, Hon. Labaran Maku, polled 12,931 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Emmanuel David Ombugadu, garnered 11,570 votes.
Other candidates trailed behind, with Mohammed Stephen Alaku of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) securing 4,244 votes, Ishaya Duba Dodo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) polling 1,496 votes, and Paul Araneshri of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) recording 102 votes.
The APC candidate’s commanding lead across the district handed him a decisive victory in the by-election, reinforcing the party’s grip on the senatorial seat.
