A business mogul and philanthropist, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu was on Thursday, inducted as a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR.
Ukachukwu was inducted alongside many other distinguished Nigerians at the 60th Diamond Anniversary celebration of the NIPR, held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
Ukachukwu’s recognition was a result of his numerous contributions towards the strategic development of the nation’s real estate landscape and human capital development, as one of the pioneers of real estate development in Nigeria, as well as his philanthropic and political accomplishments.
The NIPR was established in 1963 and Chartered by Decree 16 of June 1990, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Practitioners Decree (now an Act of the National Assembly and cited as Cap N114, Laws of the Federation Nigeria, LFN, 2004).
Performing the induction, the NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku said it aims to reinforce professionalism and end quackery in Public Relations.
According to him, the inductees are expected to join efforts in creating a new narrative for Nigeria and guarding the nation’s reputation.
Responding, the business leader, Prince Ukachukwu commended the national council of NIPR led by President Dr. Neliaku for the honour, which he described as a motivation for him and something that goes beyond mere appreciation.
According to him, the honor speaks to his numerous contributions towards the development of the country, “ranging from our investments that have created jobs and developed human capital, to our real estate groups, industries, and down to our mentorship programmes, philanthropic activities, and our gospel outreach.
“Through these channels, we have been able to reach out to many positively,” he said.
The real estate guru said his businesses are harnessing effectively, PR tools and strategies in communicating and winning the loyalty of the public, saying the honour will help foster greater impact.
“We are going to advance the horizon of PR in our businesses.
This honor will also motivate people who will hear our nothing-to-something story, to strive towards greatness, irrespective of the background they are coming from.
“It is our drive as patriotic citizens, to continue to do our best towards nation-building
“Irrespective of what we are facing, we remain undaunted in our belief in a sane society where truth, justice, and progress prevail.
“Our task now is to stand out as ambassadors of the NIPR in each of our endeavours, to build a better image for our country, and to set a new model of emulation for our young people, through our story of doggedness, hard work, and persistence.
“Yes, we have failed in so many things and suffered many pains, but they all have contributed to who we have become- an indestructible, resilient, and reliable brand.
“I want to call on successful Nigerians to show the younger people their struggles and pains, not just their successes.
“This will teach them that life is all about making the best out of their mistakes, failures, and struggles.
“It will also de-emphasize the present pursuit of an easy but negative route out of poverty, as well as encourage the younger people never to give up when they are faced with obstacles in the course of their lives and career,” Ukachukwu concluded.
