Burna Boy Throws Shade at Davido: 'The Real Joke is on Your Dp' Amid Grammy Losses

The real Joke is on your Dp”– Burna Boy Trolls Davido; Calls him a Joke

Who needs reality TV when you’ve got the real-life when Nigerians are real time entertainers. Nigerians are sore losers and they do not hide that fact.

Today, on February 12th, 2024, tensions may rise in the Nigerian music scene following a bold statement made by Grammy Award winner Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.

In a recent exchange, Burna Boy didn’t hold back in labeling his fellow artist Davido as a joke man, after a troll taunted him for losing out on four Grammy nominations in a single night.

Taking a step back to the 66th Grammy Awards held on February 4th, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, it was a disappointing outcome for Burna Boy, who had secured four nominations, as well as for Davido with three nominations. Similarly, other Nigerian talents like Ayra Starr, Asake, and Tems left empty-handed.

In an attempt to find solace and perhaps humor in the situation, Burna Boy joined the ranks of Nigerians employing levity to cope, particularly after Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the AFCON final.

In response to a post where he was mentioned, Burna Boy reacted with a “Walahi” accompanied by a laughing emoji. However, his response sparked a retort from a Davido fan, identified as Sundelyno, whose profile picture prominently featured Davido.

Sundelyno, with Davido’s image as their display picture, took a jab at Burna Boy over his Grammy losses, jesting, “Ode, bottled 4 Grammys.”

In a quick comeback, Burna Boy not only dismissed Sundelyno’s jibe but also indirectly labeled Davido as the real subject of jest, given his lack of Grammy Awards. Burna Boy punctuated his response with a laughing emoji, driving his point home.
