Buhari to Senators: You can’t buy cars and still take car loans

The President Muhammdu Buhari Wednesday told members of the National Assembly that it would be wrong to buy cars N50 billion for themselves and still get car loans.

He however did not say how intends to block the outrageous car bazaar.
Recently, the Senate announced that it would buy vehicles worth over N4.6 billion for Senators to facilitate the discharge of their constitutional duties.
But, President Buhari told the nation during presidential media chat that he had expressed his displeasure over the issue during a closed-door meeting with the NASS members, saying he hoped they would not go ahead.
He recalled turning down a proposal to purchase cars worth N400 million for the Presidency, saying National Assembly should take a cue from that.
On the proposal to buy vehicles worth N400 million for the Presidency, he had this to say, “I said the cars I have are good enough for 10 years.
“I had a closed-door meeting with the National Assembly regarding the cars they are trying to buy.
“I hope they haven’t bought them yet.
“They can’t buy cars for themselves and also take money in car loans,” Buhari insisted.
