According to reports, a staff of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi has been lynched to death after being accused of stealing a mobile phone.
It was gathered that the deceased was tortured to death after a group of Youths in Gyado villa, Kilometer 4, along Makurdi-Gboko Road, alerted of a missing phone and invited the deceased for questioning.
In protest to his death, on Saturday night, February 17, a youth group loyal to the deceased, mobilized and burnt down the house of the father of the youth leader who allegedly led the lynch mob to kill the deceased.
Following the incident, chaos broke out and many residents were seen scampering out of the community for fear of the unknown.
Although details behind the matter seemed sketchy, police sources said that investigations had begun to unravel the true cause of the ugly incident.
