BSEMA provides aid to IDP camps in 14 LGs with food and other items

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) has given out food and other things to people who had to leave their homes and stay in camps. This is to help them during this difficult time.

Mr. James Iorpuu, who is in charge of the agency, talked to reporters at the BSEMA office in Makurdi.

He said they are giving out these things because the government wants to help the people who had to leave their homes in the 14 areas of the state where this happened.

He said that the Benue State Government, through BSEMA, is working with groups that help people in need, both in the state and from other countries.

They want to make sure that the people in the camps have what they need every day, and they are also trying to find ways for these people to go back to their homes.

“I reiterate that Benue SEMA under my watch will continue to be transparent and committed to delivering on the mandate of the agency in line with Governor Alia administration’s commitment towards mitigating and responding to emergency related issues and resettling the IDPs to their ancestral homes.”

Mr. Iorpuu also said that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has come to Benue State to stay and help.

They will work with the state government to make things better for the people who had to leave their homes.

He also mentioned that another group, the Intercommunity Development and Social Organisations (IDSO), is working with Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) to give out important things to people who need help in Makurdi. They are focusing on helping 210 families.
