Comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, known as Broda Shaggi, said he spent about four months in Nigerian hospitals without getting the hip replacement he needed. He only walked again after he had the surgery in Dubai.
He shared the account in a YouTube video titled “Second Chance (The Story)”, which he posted late on Wednesday, October 21, on his channel “Official Broda Shaggi.” The bullet hit him in March 2026 near the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State. His video focuses on what followed.
Shaggi said he had surgery at a hospital in GRA Ikeja after a first hospital in Alakuko could not treat him. He still could not move his leg or put it on the floor for months. He said doctors in Nigeria told him his body markers were not yet “regulated,” so they could not operate further.
He then flew to Dubai. A surgeon named Anil reportedly found the same markers but went ahead with the hip replacement. Brodda Shaggi stood with support on day two and walked with crutches on day three.
He also spoke about the effect on his work. “I was hospitalized for months, and I felt so useless,” he said. “I would see my colleagues post skits and burst into tears because I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do it again. I was scared people would have forgotten me by the time I returned.” He has since returned to posting content.
