British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter, and four others are missing following the sinking of their luxury yacht, Bayesian, off the coast of Sicily on August 19, 2024.
The 56-meter yacht, which was carrying 22 people, encountered a severe storm with waterspouts near Porticello, Sicily, around 05:00 local time.
The vessel capsized and sank, resulting in the loss of at least six lives.
Fifteen people, including a one-year-old British girl, were rescued from the waters.
The yacht’s chef is also among those unaccounted for.
Mike Lynch, 56, is a prominent figure in the tech industry.
He co-founded Autonomy, a software company specializing in enterprise search and unstructured data analysis.
 In 2011, Autonomy was acquired by Hewlett-Packard for $11.7 billion, making Lynch one of the most influential figures in British technology.
Divers have discovered wreckage 50 meters below the surface and are actively searching for the missing individuals.
While one body has been found outside the wreckage, its nationality remains unidentified.
 The search and rescue operations continue as authorities strive to locate the remaining individuals.
