British Businessman Sues Apple for £5 Million Over Deleted Messages

A British businessman is suing Apple for £5 million, alleging that the company’s lack of transparency regarding the deletion of messages led to the discovery of his infidelity and subsequent divorce.
The businessman claimed that messages he had deleted from his iPhone, which were communications with sex workers, remained accessible on the family’s iMac.
He believed that these messages were permanently deleted from all devices linked to his Apple account.
However, he discovered that the messages were still retrievable on other connected devices, which his wife accessed, revealing his infidelity.
The man’s lawyer, Simon Walton, argued that Apple has not been clear about the synchronization and deletion processes of messages across multiple devices.
According to Walton, Apple’s system is misleading users into thinking that deleting a message on one device erases it permanently from all linked devices.
The businessman asserted that this lack of clarity directly led to the breakdown of his marriage and the ensuing financial costs associated with his divorce.
He is seeking compensation for these financial losses, totaling £5 million.
