BREAKING: Senate greenlights Tinubu’s request to sack top government official

The Senate has said yes to President Bola Tinubu’s request to fire Babatunde Irukera, who was the head of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

In a letter read out by the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, Tinubu explained that he wanted to remove Irukera because he thought he wasn’t doing his job well.

According to the FCCPC Act, the President needs the National Assembly’s approval to let go of someone like Irukera from his position.

This isn’t the first time Tinubu has removed someone from their job. Back in January, he also fired Alexander Okoh, who was the Director-General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Enterprises.

After discussing it, most of the lawmakers agreed with Tinubu’s decision when they voted.
