Breaking: S’ Court Affirms Bala Mohammed Governor Of Bauchi State

Report filtering in shows that the Supreme Court has on Friday 12 January 2024 affirmed the election of the Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed.

Recall that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Sadique Abubakar’s filled an appeal before the tribunal and the appellate court challenging the declaration of Mohammed as the duly elected governor of the state in the March 18 governorship election. 

Abubakar’s efforts at the two lower courts to invalidate the mandate of Bala Mohammed failed.

The APC candidate had alleged massive non-compliance with the Electoral Act during the election at the two courts.

However, his petition at the tribunal and appeal at the appellate court were dismissed for lack of merit. The two courts held that he did not prove his allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.

Delivering the lead judgment on Friday, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa resolved all six issues against the appellant and held that the appeal was devoid of merit.
