BREAKING: Pro-Abdulrahman Crowd Shuts Down PDP HQ, Demands Damagum’s Removal

Tension flared at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday as supporters of the party’s North Central Vice Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman, stormed Wadata Plaza, demanding the immediate removal of the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC).

Chanting solidarity songs and wielding placards, the protesters accused Damagum of mismanaging the opposition party and vowed to “reclaim the PDP’s soul.”

“We are here to take back our party. The era of impunity and manipulation is over,” one protester said.

The protest marks a fresh escalation in the PDP’s deepening leadership crisis.

The News Chronicle recalled that last week, Abdulrahman was declared Acting National Chairman following the suspension of National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the party’s Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, a move that split the party further.

In retaliation, the Anyanwu camp held a parallel meeting in Abuja where it announced the suspension of Damagum and members of his NWC, intensifying the battle for control.

Security personnel have since cordoned off the PDP headquarters to avert a possible clash as rival factions continue their power tussle over the party’s leadership structure.
