A crisis has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State following violent protests and allegations of irregularities in its governorship primary process ahead of the 2027 elections.
Tensions rose in parts of Benue South as angry youths stormed the office of party chieftain Samson Okwu, accusing him of working to sideline the Idoma bloc from securing the party’s governorship ticket.
Protesters demanded fairness and insisted that Benue South must be given a chance to produce the party’s candidate.
The situation worsened as reports emerged of the alleged abduction of the ADC chairman in Okpokwu Local Government Area, prompting police deployment to the party secretariat in Okpoga to prevent further unrest.
Meanwhile, Ejembi Adaje has called for the cancellation of the Enone primary election, alleging widespread irregularities and claiming the process did not reflect the will of party members.
The ADC leadership has yet to issue an official response as tension continues to build within the party in the state.
