Violence erupted in parts of Oyo State on Saturday during local government congresses organised by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The clashes occurred amid an ongoing rift between two PDP factions in the state one aligned with Governor Seyi Makinde and the other loyal to Wike.

Reports indicate that thugs attacked several individuals and properties during the unrest, leaving about 25 people injured. Vehicles and buildings were also vandalised across several areas including Ibadan North, Ido, Ibarapa Central, Akinyele, and Ogbomoso North.
The residence of former Oyo Deputy Governor Hazim Gbolarumi in Bodija, Ibadan North, was among properties attacked, with items worth millions of naira reportedly destroyed.
Chairman of the Wike-led PDP faction in the state, Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, confirmed the incident, saying hoodlums were moving around local governments attacking residents and damaging properties, including more than 25 vehicles.
Spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the attack and said the Commissioner of Police has ordered the arrest of those responsible, adding that security operatives are already on top of the situation.
